Have you ever felt like your life has taken a detour?
Maybe things aren't happening the way you expected.
Maybe something has taken much longer than you thought it would, or something has led you in a completely different direction than the one you thought you were heading.
What if that detour is actually giving you something you couldn't have received on the original route?
I had a couple of really interesting experiences with this while I was in Canada recently—literally physical detours that led me into memories, reflections, and realizations I never would have consciously been looking for.
And in this episode, we're going to explore the unexpected gifts that can come through life's detours, how we can stay open to what they may be showing us, and how to recognize when it's time to take the next step.
And if you're ready to join me, pull up a comfy chair, invite in your soul, and be open to receive exactly what you need to live, be, and thrive as the embodied soul you are.
I've just recently returned from Canada, and I've had some time to reflect on what happened during that trip. And there were a couple of experiences that really stayed with me. One of them was a literal physical detour.
So, when I'm in Canada, I travel around visiting different family and friends and taking care of things that I need to take care of.
And when I'm traveling, I use an app called Waze because I trust it to navigate me without needing to know exactly where I'm going.
I generally have an idea of the route that it takes me, and so I have some familiarity with where I'm going.
Well, during this particular trip, the first thing I noticed was that I was returning from a friend's place, a long distance away, and shortly into my trip I realized:
I’m not going the way I normally go.
I didn't recognize any of the landmarks.
I didn't really know where I was.
And so I had to simply rely on Waze and trust that it knew where it was taking me.
And then here's what happened.
All of a sudden, I realized that I was driving past the gravesite area where my grandma and grandpa were buried.
And that immediately began to bring up memories of family.
A few minutes later, I realized, Oh! That's the road that takes me to their old farmhouse.
And that brought up even more childhood memories.
Memories of experiences I had there.
`Memories of family gatherings.
And all this time, I was just reflecting on them.
Allowing myself to acknowledge them.
Seeing them from the perspective of where I am now, and how differently I see some circumstances and some stories from where I am now—not from who I was back when I experienced them.
And then the next thing I know, I'm driving through another town, and I realize that’s where some of my other relatives have lived.
And that prompted more memories.
More reflections.
And then I began to think:
Hmm…
This isn't quite the detour that I thought it was.
This seemed very conscious in many ways.
It felt like I was being guided to see these things.
To process through memories.
To process through emotion.
To process through the thoughts and stories and ideas and meanings that I had made over my lifetime.
And then I moved through another town.
And by this point, it seemed almost completely unreal.
Because an old coworker that I had lost touch with had a cottage in this town.
And that brought up reflections on how we had lost touch.
And I found myself just sending love and remembering what great times we had.
And it was beautiful.
And then...
And then I ended up on my shuttle ride back to the airport.
And this is where it got really interesting.
The shuttle always goes down our major highways, across another highway, and then to the airport.
Always.
I have never had it do anything differently.
But this time, no.
They got off on a small route.
And that route happened to take us through the town where my husband and I bought our first house.
And that brought up lots of really fond memories of our time there over that decade.
And then I see...
And this seemed almost impossible.
I see the road to the gravesite just a few minutes up the road, where my grandparents on my mother's side are buried, along with my aunt.
And again I'm thinking:
Wow.
All of this ancestral reweaving.
All of this energetic re-seeing.
All of this memory processing.
All of this emotional processing.
And even just the love.
And I thought:
This is incredible.
And then, off to my left, I see the sign for the place where my husband and I got married 25 years ago.
And I just smiled and thought to myself:
This is unbelievable.
Now, maybe you're listening to this and you're thinking:
*Yes, so what?*
You happened to pass by these places.
And that's okay.
That is absolutely one way of looking at it.
But to me, it was just too synchronistic.
It was so clear to me, from all of the thoughts that came up for me, all of the reflection that I did, all of the memories that I walked down, all of the emotions that surfaced, that something much deeper was happening.
What the Guides showed me was how the energetics that I am holding now—where my consciousness is now—was working and reweaving.
It was almost as though the energetic threads were coming out from me and creating a web across all of time and space, and realigning it into this current moment.
Into this moment of the new.
Where we move beyond where we have been building in the density of fear and the lower frequencies, so that we can now more clearly move forward.
And I think it's also interesting to note that this was happening during Lion's Gate.
That last thread back to the shuttle was actually done on the Lion's Gate opening on August 8th.
And so why do I share all of this?
And how does it really apply to you?
Because when I first noticed that I was being taken on these detours, the first thing we think is:
Ah, this is going to take longer.
This isn't the way I usually go.
This isn't the fastest route.
Why am I being directed this way?
In my case, it was a very physical, tangible detour on my drive.
But this also applies energetically.
Because how often do we feel that life isn't happening the way we want it to?
Things aren't happening as quickly as we want.
Things fall away.
Different things show up that we really didn't think we wanted.
And we can immediately interpret those things as a problem.
As a delay.
As something that has gone wrong.
But what if...
What if the detour is actually giving you something you couldn't have received on the original route?
That's the question I want to invite you to sit with.
Because we are multidimensional beings, and we are moving more and more every day—especially during these portal windows and into the next few years.
The energies are moving very quickly.
And what this means for us is that anything that is in the lower density, anything that is stuck in our bodies, anything that is stuck in our organs, stories that we still play, beliefs we still have, institutional, social, religious, cultural frameworks that we have been abiding by—anything that is no longer serving us—is going to come up for us to reflect upon and then make a conscious choice about.
And here's the thing:
It doesn't mean that we have to release everything.
It doesn't mean we have to rebuild everything that we're doing.
No.
I'll even give you a small example.
My husband and I just shared our 25th anniversary.
And then, passing by the nature centre where we got married, it brought me back to reflecting on:
What is marriage?
And is marriage a structure that I really believe in?
And where was my energy at the time that I chose to say yes to getting married?
Was there an expectation?
Was there a...
Well, that's what women do. They get married.
And then, looking at marriage even as a contract, and considering some of its roots—where, historically, women could be gifted to their husbands with a dowry—I found myself thinking:
That seems so archaic.
That's my opinion. Take what resonates and leave the rest.
But what resonates more for me now is:
Are you choosing to be with somebody?
Not out of obligation.
Not because you have to.
Not because you have combined assets.
But are you choosing to be together because you want to?
And that choice matters.
And the energetics around that choice matter.
And it doesn't just apply to marriage.
It applies to all of the things that we do.
All of the relationships that we're in.
All of the structures that we have been indoctrinated into.
And for us to allow those things, when they come up into our awareness—during these moments of detours, for instance, or during family get-togethers, or during work experiences, or wherever we’re in interconnection with things—to show us what we need to see in order to move forward in our highest.
Because I had zero thoughts or ideas about driving through these different places.
Yet, I would never have thought about these people.
I never would have thought about these experiences.
I never would have moved through those emotions if I hadn't been detoured.
If the app, if the shuttle driver, hadn't taken those other routes.
Not the routes that I expected.
But the routes that I needed in order to move forward.
And so...
Where does your life feel like you're on a bit of a detour?
And what thoughts, what ideas, what memories have been bubbling up in your mind in those quiet moments?
What emotions have stirred?
Allow yourself some time to reflect on them.
Because you are shifting energies.
You are shifting energies for yourself so that you can lift and maintain the higher frequencies.
And every person you think about—we are all an interconnected web.
As you move through this, your energetics ripple out through all of those that you think about, through your family lines.
Supporting that lifting so that new thoughts, new ideas, new choices can be made across you, your family, your broader family, your ancestry, your lineage, and ultimately every single being on the globe.
Because we are all one.
We are all an interconnected web of Source, having our own individual experience of being in a physical body, yet still being connected to the All That Is.
Now, the other really interesting thing that came up during this reevaluation, during these reflection moments, was an idea.
A thought came into my mind.
And I didn’t catch it at first.
But then it showed up again.
And it was almost like I had a tap on the shoulder that said:
Um... did you notice the thought you just thunk?
And the thought was:
Take action now on these business things that have been sitting on hold for about three years.
And then I thought:
Oh.
I did have that thought.
Maybe it is time to do something more with it.
Because every time I had tried to take action on certain things over the past three years, I just hit a wall.
I couldn't see a clear path forward.
And I took one action.
And then things started to move very quickly.
Everything seemed to unravel and allow me to see what the next step was.
And I want to be really clear here:
This didn't just magically happen.
I didn't just receive everything.
I had the idea.
I took the first step.
And that first step revealed the next thing.
And sometimes that next thing was a knot.
And within that knot, there was a thread.
And when I became curious about that thread, I could pull on it, and it would begin to loosen the knot and reveal the next step.
And what I discovered was that I didn't actually need to see the whole knot.
I didn't need to understand what had created the knot, or figure out exactly how it was going to unravel.
I simply had to become curious when I reached it.
I had to give myself space.
I had to allow myself to notice what thought came next.
What idea came next.
What showed up.
What wanted my attention.
And sometimes that next step revealed itself immediately.
And sometimes it took a couple of days.
I wasn't pushing.
I wasn't forcing anything.
I wasn't saying, I have to figure this out right now.
I was simply allowing myself to become curious.
And when I did that, the next thread revealed itself.
So I took that next step.
And then that revealed another thread.
And another thread.
And another thread.
And eventually I could see what was happening.
But I didn't have to know the whole path ahead of time.
And that is a really important distinction.
Because it can be so easy for us to think:
Okay, there's a knot here. I need to figure out what the knot is.
And then we start overthinking.
We start analyzing.
We start trying to decode everything.
And sometimes we get ourselves completely stuck doing that.
But just as I didn't need to understand the whole knot, or see all of the threads in advance, in order to take the next step, it's the same thing with the detours in our lives.
We don't need to immediately figure out why every detour is happening.
Sometimes the wisdom of the detour isn't visible until much later.
Sometimes our job isn't to decode it.
Sometimes our job is to simply stay present enough to notice what is arising, to become curious about it, and to take the next step when it becomes clear.
And sometimes that next step is clear immediately.
Sometimes it comes tomorrow.
Sometimes it comes a few days later.
And that's okay.
There is no need to push.
There is no need to force.
And there is no need to make yourself responsible for seeing the entire path.
Because for three years, people, for three years, nothing happened with these business things.
And it can be so easy, when we're in that situation, to think we've done something wrong.
To think that we haven't maintained a high enough level of energy.
To think that maybe we're not worthy enough.
Or that we're not good enough.
Or whatever the belief is.
It's easy for us to automatically make it about ourselves.
When, in fact, it's not always about us.
Sometimes it's about timing.
Sometimes it's about our personal energetics.
Sometimes it's about where the consciousness of the planet is.
So, for instance, maybe you've been trying to create a product. Maybe you've been trying to do a certain thing that's been on your heart.
And you keep taking those steps, and you keep hitting the wall.
Think of me as an example.
It took three years to unravel it.
It doesn't always happen in the time that we want.
And so, back to the energetics.
Sometimes the collective consciousness isn't ready for what you're trying to birth.
And remember that everything that you birth, everything you create, everything that you develop in the world, has its own consciousness.
Your business has a consciousness.
The product you're selling has a consciousness.
The thing you write, the book you're working on, has a consciousness of its own.
And it has its requirements for its birthing that may be different from what you want as the personality or the ego self, who wants things the way they want them, in the moment they want them.
So sometimes it takes time.
And this also goes to your own personal process.
Sometimes there are things within you, beliefs within you, that need to be released, re-seen, or reformatted so that that thing—that creation—can be birthed without the icky energy of a lower-frequency thought or belief, either individually or collectively.
And the other point of this, the other thing to be aware of, is that I've heard from a number of community members recently who have said that they are just waiting for things to happen.
That they've opened to receive.
That they're waiting for the Universe to bring them what they need.
And on one level, that's true.
We have to have our hands open.
We have to be open to receiving what's coming to us.
And...
We also have to take the small, practical actions as the human in form in order to make that happen.
All of the things with my business didn't suddenly align and get presented to me on a silver platter.
I had to take the small steps.
I had to make the calls.
Send the emails.
Set things up.
Take the actions.
And I was guided and given clarity at every step.
But if I had just said:
Okay. I'm ready.
And opened my hands...
Nothing would have happened.
The energy and the timing would have been there. But nothing would have actually manifested in the physical environment.
And so, yes, when the path finally opened, it was absolutely easy. And it happened quickly.
But it also took me taking the actions.
Listening to myself.
Listening to the energies.
And knowing when:
Okay. There's nothing more I can do today. I'm going to go to sleep.
And then the next day, it opened up.
So there's this beautiful balance.
We receive.
We listen.
We become aware.
And then we act.
We don't need to force the whole path open.
But we do need to take the step that is ours to take.
And so, remind yourself when you're moving through these detours, when you're trying to create things, or you're trying to do something in the world, or you've been wishing and acting on things to bring something into your life:
The detour can have a benefit in it.
There’s a reason that you’re where you are in the moment that you are.
And it’s from that point that you can find clarity on the next step.
And if you don’t see clarity in that moment, it may not be time yet.
Maybe there’s something that needs to shift within you.
Maybe there’s something that needs to be seen differently.
Or there might be something energetically related to your creation, or to the collective, or to the world energetics, that needs some time to unravel.
It might even be about another person.
Perhaps there’s a person who needs to come into your life in order for something to happen.
Everybody has choice.
And so sometimes when you're working on creations, it takes other people saying yes to it.
And if they don't—if they choose a different path—then the Universe has to recalibrate to bring another person who can do it, too.
And so be gentle with yourself around that.
Don't automatically jump to the conclusion that you've done something wrong.
Allow yourself the grace to say:
“Ah. Maybe the timing isn't right.”
And then, instead of immediately trying to figure out why, set the intention to become aware.
Become aware of the thoughts.
The memories.
The feelings.
The emotions that come up in your mind.
Especially those fleeting ones that almost pass by if you're not paying attention.
Because sometimes those are the thoughts, the ideas, and the emotions that carry the gift.
They're the little tap on the shoulder.
They're the ones saying:
This is what is standing in the way.
This is what needs to be seen in order for you to untether and move upwards.
This is what is needed in order to clear the way for you to see.
And so maybe the invitation this week is simply to ask yourself:
Where in my life do I feel like I'm on a detour?
And then:
What have I been saying about it?
What is the story I've been thinking?
What are the memories that I've been working through?
What circumstances have come up?
What emotions have surfaced?
And how might I see them from a different perspective?
And then perhaps ask:
What action step am I being called to take?
And that might be a change in perspective.
It might literally be an email.
A phone call.
Setting up something..
Taking one action.
Putting one word on the page.
What's the one thing that you could do?
And then...
Do that thing.
And, of course, as I often say, it's a beautiful practice every morning to say:
“I am now choosing to align my energy systems to the highest they can maintain right now.”
And then act.
Take your decisions and your steps from that higher-level place.
Lift up as high as you can so that you can see from that higher perspective.
Because sometimes it's hard to see when we're in the middle of it.
Allow yourself to feel the emotions.
Move through them.
But then allow your energy systems, whenever you feel that wobble or that contraction, to realign.
So that when you take that next step, you're doing it from the highest level you can in that moment.
And that will support you greatly as you move through this accelerated time, through these portal energies, and into the next few years.
So I send you the most beautiful blessings as you navigate the detours in your life from this different perspective.
And may you fully enjoy them. May you fully benefit from them.
And may these tiny practices support you in receiving and opening and moving in the highest and most perfect way for you.

Where have you felt like you've been on a detour?
Where have you noticed things opening up and moving more quickly?
And where have you noticed that you didn't need to know the whole path—you just needed to take the next step that was revealed?
The more we share our experiences and how we've navigated things, the more we support everyone else in recognizing what they're moving through.
And that supports all of us in moving to the next level frequency.
We're all supporting each other.
We're all lifting each other.
Just like that image of the web recalibrating across me and the ancestors and my lineage.
That's happening across the collective as each one of us has an awareness, as each one of us integrates that.
That is moving and lifting the full collective and the planet herself.
I'm sending you so much love for the week ahead. And I look forward to seeing you next week.
